With the theme of the mysterious environment and wonders of night diving, three modern re-interpretations of 1965, 1968, and 1970 Seiko diver's watches will join The Black Series of the line in 2022 with limited production quantities, they are equipped with Caliber 6R35 which is able to deliver a power reserve of 70 hours.
The whole series is equipped with a matt black case that represents the darkness and silence of the deep sea at night, and the orange highlight color is inspired by the torch lights that illuminate the darkness by divers while hunting down the unknown world.
The SPB257 is a Modern Re-interpretation of the "1970 Mechanical Diver's Watch", the original model was released in 1970 with a unique streamlined form and more importantly it was worn by the Japanese adventurer between 1974 to 1976 when he completed a 12,500km solo dog-sled run from Greenland to Alaska, proving its reliability in extreme conditions. Seiko lovers worldwide usually refer to it as the "Captain Willard" as this watch was worn by the main actor of the character "Captain Benjamin L. Willard" in the movie "Apocalypse Now (1979)". This is paying tribute to the 1970 original model whilst equipping with the latest Seiko technology.
